How does your group bring Chicago as a global music leader into the mix?
The sound of Lowdown is strong representation of Chicago Music Culture. Its heavy on Latin island vibes and street beat rhythm, with the energy of Chicago Hip Hop, Jazz, Ska, Reggae & Soul. Instrumentally Lowdown Brass Band maintains traditional brass band plus NY-born rapper Billa Camp and the blue eyed soulful voice of Texas born Shane Jonas. The music itself is high energy, proud, in your face horn music with that Chicago swag.

All members of LowDown have called Chicago home for almost 20 years. Much like our fine city, members come from all over the U.S. including Texas, Detroit, San Francisco, Indiana, New York City, Michigan, Cleveland. Most met playing in each others’ bands over the years, coming together and growing together personally and professionally. Now we are one big family and still maintain a love for the unique music we make. We are rooted in our brotherhood.
Other comments for our readers to let them know about your group, your sound and what you would like them to know about you?
Lowdown is a sum of its parts --Individually we could all be our own band, but its that chemistry we have with each other that make the sound work. We are still just trying to have fun, dance, sing, rap, and play our brand of tight horn lines and grooving rhythm for crowds across the globe.
