Do a quick Google and you see that the Uzbeki Crafts Fair you just missed will soon be followed by another.  There is a great deal of well found pride among Uzbeki craftsmen and craftswomen in the work that they do.  The expertise from prior generations is preserved-- in intricate bead work and similarly detailed suzani, puppet making, paper making, wood and metal working, miniature painting and more.

In Bukhara, the charming puppet making shop/museum is a tourist favorite.
