POGGIO DEL PERO Agriturismo in Panicale Umbria Italy Review – Living a Rustic Italy Dream,with horses, chickens, Umbrian breakfasts and more
Welcome to Poggio del Pero. It’s an agriturismo, but don’t think that means you will be roughing it. You will stay in one or another comfortable family apartment aesthetically appointed with touches of lace, oil paintings, antique furniture and other heirlooms rescued from proprietor Raffaela’s wedding gifts or procured because they shouted good fit.
Maria Raffaella Oldani—Raffa, for short--- a travel agent for 22 years before moving to Poggio del Pero 12 years ago-- is on standby to help arrange your many adventures in the Umbrian countryside. It’s a long list of possibilities—from rafting to hang gliding and other adventure sports outings, to arranging historic site tours, shopping excursions or gourmet meals.
Or, you can just hang out at Poggio del Pero and share in Raffa’s rustic dream that she has been working on realizing for twelve years.
-10 of their 25 hectares planted with fruit-yielding olive trees;
-an increase in olives from 300 kilos the prior year to 1000 kilos this last harvest;
-five horses;
-six cats and two dogs;
-dozens of fresh eggs daily from chickens about to live in one of the spiffiest chicken houses you have ever seen, a project of Raffa’s 21 year-old son and artist Eduardo.
Usually guests stay one or two weeks.
