PODERE MOLINACCIO B&B in Panicale, Umbria, Italy Review-Country Farmhouse Retreat and very good fit for intergenerational families
You pass so many of them as you drive through the countryside of Tuscany or Umbria….
They are the abandoned farmhouses dotting the landscape—some with roof, most without doors or windows. They each invite fantasies of who lived there when. Usually they are surrounded by expansive fields or on hilltops and you know the views in all directions are and always have been enchanting.
Even before the spring and summer flowers are in bloom on all sides of Podere Molinaccio, it’s difficult to imagine that it was not so long ago when this was just another one of these abandoned brick and stone farm houses of the Umbrian countryside. With solar panels, a pool, and all the modern conveniences one might want, Podere Molinaccio doesn’t give away its not so recent past, nor the considerable effort Podere Molinaccio's proprietor Chiara Berzieri has put into making your stay effortless.
Chiara had found the roofless building that became her B&B after a multi-year search. It was her dream to get out of the rush-rush-rush of Milan life, and into the slower pace of the countryside. It’s here that she welcomes people from all over the world—Brits to Brazilians—no doubt charming them all with her keen sense of irony, as she calls it.
Podere Molinaccio is a Best Fit for Intergenerational Family Visits
Podere Molinaccio strikes as an especially good fit vacation place for an extended family that wants to be close, and yet have private spaces for the smaller family units within. Each of the bedrooms opens up into an inviting shared space. It’s there that you will enjoy the breakfasts that Chiara brings upstairs each morning, putting yogurt, fruit and more in a self-serve alcove, while bringing fresh baked goods and hot foods to the long table in the dining area.
Most of the visitors to Podere Molinaccio actually are self-caterers, who take care of shopping and preparing their own meals. It is a private villa available for one, two or more week rentals. During the high season the minimum stay is seven nights, and in the low season it is sometimes possible to stay for only three nights.
Our tip for visiting Podere Molinaccio is to enlist Chiara to join you on your explorations, or minimally find time to hang out in her kitchen downstairs sharing tea, stories, and laughs. It doesn’t surprise to learn that when she isn’t running Podere Molinaccio she is often spending time helping “differently abled” young adults do everything from paint to toilet, at Terrarte, a Panicale charity she is devoted to.
