New York State Council on the Arts presents NY POPSUP — Preview

NY PopsUp is an unprecedented festival of hundreds of pop-up performances delivered by New York artists that aim to meet New York City and State residents where they are, infusing their daily lives with the surprise and joy of live performance, according to the event spokesperson. The hundreds of pop-up events make stages out of New York’s existing landscapes, including iconic transit stations, parks, subway platforms, museums, skate parks, street corners, fire escapes, parking lots, storefronts, and upstate venues.

A wide range of artists – from theater to dance, poetry to comedy, and pop music to opera – are featured, including names like Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Alec Baldwin, Renee Fleming, Q-Tip, Hugh Jackman, and Sarah Jessica Parker, among others.

Not all events are announced in advance. @NYPopsUp on Twitter and Instagram do give updates on many of these impromptu performances.
