The Ghoul – a lavender character who lives in a swamp – desires to escape this dimension filled with her overzealous, affectionate friends and explore outer space. When one of her friends, The Red Goblin, goes missing, The Ghoul takes the opportunity to leave the swamp and embark on a galactic journey.
Director Josh Owen’s Ghoulish Galactic Grievances experiments with different sounds, lighting, animation, and costumes to create an intergalactic atmosphere about exploration and friendship. In this writer’s opinion, the light and sound effects accompanying The Ghoul’s flight through space are intense and overwhelming – similar to how one would imagine a space journey. The costumes, makeup, and voice acting all fit the setting as they have an alien appearance and sound ethereal.
Ghoulish Galactic Grievances is a short sci-fi film for those interested in fantastical creatures and outer space, but the visual effects may be too extreme for anyone desiring a light-hearted, relaxing film.
