A spokesperson describes the event as follows:

“...The Underground is a two-part play with music about a world without music, where a group of musicians fight in a desperate attempt to keep their dying artform alive. They collaborate with a group of poets and open a school for music in spite of constant threats to stop from government agents. But when they are unable to recruit anyone to join, they learn that there are much more powerful forces actively working against them. Complete with songs, spoken word, and dance, this show forces audiences to reckon with the question: What would a world without music look like? Written by Austin Lamewona; music by Brooke Vespoli; additional compositions by Maya Kociba..."
