As the kickoff event for its 2018 season, Dance for Life Chicago presents Dance Divas, a party and performance, Sunday June 24 at 6 p.m. and Monday, June 25 at 7 and 9 p.m. at the famed female impersonation nightclub the Baton Show Lounge, 436 N. Clark Street, Chicago. All proceeds benefit The Dancers’ Fund.
Under the artistic direction of choreographers Jeremy Plummer and Harrison McEldowney, the glamorous night of “high heels and high camp” features Chicago’s leading professional male dancers impersonating the famous dancing women of stage, screen and pop music. During the evening, guests have the opportunity to bid on “Be a Diva” for an audience member to receive a complete “drag makeover” during the show.
The winning and newly “glammed-up” Diva will be revealed on stage as a part of the show.Tony Savino is emcee, Jordan Ross is costume designer, Maya Douglas and Natasha Douglas are handling wigs, and Monica Munro is makeup supervisor.
“Harrison and I are extremely excited to bring together the entire Chicago dance community for a great cause, to kick off Dance for Life Chicago and to raise money for The Dancers’ Fund,” said Plummer. “We’ll feature companies and dancers from all around the Chicago dance scene so we hope no one misses out on this unique night of show-stopping glitz and glamour!”
