A spokesperson describes the event as follows:
Thursdays (1/23, 1/30, 2/6):
Small Dances
New or adapted works will be performed within a 5'x5' square on the larger stage challenging artist to create a work for a limited space. Pre-marked squares on the stage will be assigned moments prior to the performance through a “chance operation”.
Fridays 1/24, 1/31, 2/7:
On The Corridor
New or adapted works will be performed within (or in relation to) a "corridor" of space onstage, lim- iting the performance area to a narrow hallway. A designated corridor of the stage will be assigned moments prior to the performance through a “chance operation”.
Saturdays 1/25, 2/1, 2/8:
Dancing The Score
Dancing The Score is an evening of improvisational performance by an ensemble of individuals creating together and alongside one another as they navigate a predetermined "score" or frame- work in real time in front of an audience.
Sundays 1/26, 2/2:
Under Construction
Under Construction is an informal sharing of new and "in-process" works, providing opportunities for artists to test out work on an audience, receive feedback, and share your process. These Sun- day events will be donation-based attendance with a "pay-what-you-can" ticket fee structure for audiences.
Wednesday 1/29
A.M. Collab Mid-Process Showing
An informal showcase of the works-in-process from this season's A.M. Collaborative artist pairings. Now in its 5th cycle, DanceATL’s A.M. Collaborative offers Atlanta-based makers of any artistic me- dium a community of partnerships and group feedback. The group of participating artists support and sustain each other’s processes and artistic inquiries, each deepening their own creative prac- tice. A.M. Collaborative provides accountability, fellowship, and a space in which to explore and interrogate new ideas and methods of making work. This program strives to nurture collaboration and connections within the diverse Atlanta dance and arts community.
Wednesday 2/5:
Wrecking The Dance
Existing dance works will be performed then deconstructed or "wrecked" by another dancemaker, then performed again. Taking away the preciousness allows artists to see their work in a new way, letting someone else take it apart and rebuild it in their own way..."
