What lengths would you go to in order to guarantee yourself a happily ever after? In Cinderella Games, we join the characters on a journey to discover exactly that.
From the moment we first meet our leading actress, twirling down a line of fellow happily ever after hopefuls, we are instantly brought into a different world. We watch as the line of characters enter a large theater, each person walking through a red curtain into their individual box seat where they are each met by a worker, uniformed in a bright yellow jumpsuit. In perfect unison, the workers gesture to the chairs, and the competitors sit. A man sitting on the stage rises and holds his arm up in the air as the theater erupts with applause. With no dialogue in this short film, the world and story are instead illustrated to us through this large cast’s physical movements, the orchestral music, and the brightly colored costumes that clearly illustrate who is who in this tale.
The way that the audience is instantly thrust into this world and required to learn about it through only imagery, music, and movement makes this film compelling from the first moment to the last. At less than seven minutes long, It’s hard to imagine anyone who wouldn’t enjoy this short film, but people who are not typically entertained without the use of language may find it difficult to enjoy.
This short film is a must-see for anyone who has ever wondered what exactly happily ever means.
